We’re preparing for a Cotswolds Christmas here at 100 Acres.  With Christmas not far away we’re determined not to have a last minute panic on the 24th December running around red faced and packing at midnight again.

100 Acres can definitely help.  With a few clicks you’ll be sorted and who doesn’t like receiving a scented candle at Christmas time? Our 100 Acres candles are hand poured and made from 100% natural soy & rapeseed wax – choose from our festive Winter blend of Cinnamon, Sweet Orange and Clove or our classic Signature blend of Lemon Myrtle, Rose & Lavender.

Our Winter candle was recommended by Red magazine as one of the Best Christmas Candles http://www.redonline.co.uk/beauty/product-reviews/best-scented-candles#image=25

We’ve also got a special offer for Christmas on all our 300ml Bath & Body products. As you may know, we are based in the beautiful Cotswolds, so here’s a few ideas of some Christmassy things to do and places to visit during the month of December to make it a Cotswold Christmas:

  1. Westonbirt Arboretum’s Enchanted Christmas where hundred of trees will be lit by thousands of festive lights, Father Christmas,  stilt-walkers including Jack Frost, carol singing performed by local choirs and festive market stalls with food and drink, hot chestnuts, hog roasts, toffee apples and a traditional sweet stall : www.forestry.gov.uk/westonbirt
  2. Daylesford Organic Farm – founded by the Bamford family, this is not a normal farmshop.  You won’t find much mud and manure here.  Packed full of not just the most wholesome, organic food around but also with beautifully designed household items, a yoga studio, beautiful farmshop and café has the most amazing organic produce, and this year they have opened a shop entirely dedicated to Christmas! They have visits from Father’s Christmas ( as well as his very own reindeer Donder & Blitzen) and lots of lovely activities for children. Visit their website for more details: https://daylesford.com/events/
  3. Stroud Farmer’s Market – there is only one place in the Cotswolds to buy your Christmas turkey, goose, cheeses, vegetables, oils, breads, chocolates, cakes and other Christmas foods.  Stroud Farmers Market is where the local farmers come from all over the Cotswolds to sell their produce.  Hundreds of different stands line the narrow streets.  Look out for the actor, Keith Allen (and dad to Lily Allen), who has opened a diner here selling burgers with meat from Princess Anne’s estate, Gatcombe Park , which is 5 minutes away from Stroud.  The area is renown for being the most creative part of the Cotswolds with its vallies packed full of creatives from novelists, to designers and artists.  Pop into the Stroud Wine Company (www.stroudwine.com) which sells interesting organic wines and other shops like Made in Stroud highlighting the area’s amazing creativity (www.madeinstroud.org), Allomorphic (www.allomorphic.co.uk) set up by Paul Herve-Brookes having won numerous gold medals at RHS Chelsea Flower Show (www.rhs.org.uk) Fourteen (www.fourteenlifestyle.co.uk), Cornflower & Callico (www.cornflowerandcalico.co.uk), Lewis & Wood (www.lewisandwood.co.uk) for beautiful British fabrics or go to Trainspotters (www.trainspotters.co.uk) for interesting antique and industrial lighting.  There’s also lots
  4. Burford Garden Company – much more than a Garden Centre, this amazing store in Burford really comes into it’s own at Christmas time. With an incredible selection of Christmas decorations, a new mini shop dedicated entirely to Chocolate, a wonderful toy department jam packed with traditional toys, and the most amazing range of (all extremely good quality) non-drop Christmas trees, this is where we’ll be heading to get everything we need to make our homes look beautifully festive this year: https://www.burford.co.uk/

Love the 100 Acres Team

Its starting to look a lot like…….cloudy grey skies, knee deep mud, barren lifeless trees, damp misty mornings and rain and not much else for a few more months.  We think, and we know we’re biased, but the only way to get through these barren times is to light the fire, run a bath, pour in lots of 100 Acres Relax Bath Oil like the one featured in Elle Decoration http://www.elledecoration.co.uk this month and then light a 100 Acres natural wax candle.

The signature candle is a luxurious blend of lemon myrtle, lavender and rose geranium pure essential oils based in 100 % natural waxes.  They look great as a gift in one of our boxes too.  They are available here on this website (click here : https://www.100acres.co.uk/product-category/all-products/ ) or pop into Libertys London and see the whole collection there alongside other natural candles like Bamford www.bamford.co.uk or if you don’t necessarily want to use natural waxes there are some really beautiful smelling ones like Diptyque www.diptyqueparis.co.uk , Astier de Villatte  www.astierdevillatte.com and Fornasetti www.fornasetti.com amongst lots of others.

If London is too far and you want to see the products on other websites take a look at www.bathandunwind.com where they have lots of other lovely brands like Neom, This Works, Miller Harris, Green & Spring and lots of others so well worth a look.

Autumn is drawing in quickly and we love preparing to hibernate, feel cosy and get ready for the chilly weather.

The buzzword at the moment is ‘HYGGE’, which if you haven’t heard of it, means ‘wellness’ in Danish – it’s all about making yourself happy by relaxing, sitting round a log fire, nurturing friendships, being at home and lighting candles…the Danes are reported to be the happiest people in the world, so we’re willing to give this new trend a try. And of course, we couldn’t agree more with lighting beautiful scented candles around the house!

Square Lit with Flowers & Box -

Each week in our blog we’re going to be recommending three good things which we think you will want to know about and will make you feel happy, so read on to find out what we’re loving at 100 Acres HQ this month…

1. Healthy Puddings – Yes, for real!

We recently discovered the jewel that is Asparagasm in Nailsworth, a cute little wooden-tabled vegan hideaway where rising star Lauren Lovatt (only 24, but wow is she talented) is making waves with raw, sugar free, dairy-free delights. Dip into soups, salads, vegan cheese (soon to be available at local markets) and hibiscus flavoured kombucha. We get particularly excited about the fabulous ‘Cake Slate’ with beautiful treats such as this no-guilt mini lemon cheese cake with wild foraged berries and edible flowers. Exquisite.

2. In the Nood

Ever set out the day with good intentions only to be flawed by that mid-afternoon must-have Sugar Monster craving? Gloucestershire husband and wife team, Sam (wife) and Alex (husband) Kai have cracked the healthy snack enigma with their brilliant little packets of ‘In the Nood’ – little pockets of goodness, packed with delicious ingredients ready for you to roll into your own energy ball. At 100 Acres we found the process of having to slow down a little and prepare our snack also added to a more mindful eating experience. And we were super impressed by the purity of the ingredients.

In the Nood packs come in three flavours: Orange and Cacao, Crunchy Cacao Chip, and Hired Muscle (which contains pea protein). Alex and Sam say: ‘We created In the Nood as healthy snacks with nothing to hide. They come in a pack with fully mixed dates, almonds and cashews, cacao and other amazing ingredients. With three flavours available we’ve created something that’s nutritious and jazzed, with no added sugar, they are a great pre or post work out snack, or a snack on the run, or, if you fancy I you can eat it from the bag. Kids love them too – and can create fun cookie cutter shapes with our mixture”. All round genius. http://www.inthenood.com

It’s been a while since we’ve written a blog, so sorry we’ve been rather quiet…but things have been pretty busy at 100 Acres HQ with new products launching and lots of new customers discovering us. However, we promise we’re back on track and will be posting regularly from now on.

If you don’t already know about our new scented candles and bath and body oils, well, they are out now, and selling like hotcakes!

We have two beautifully scented candles, made from 100% natural soy & rapeseed wax. Imagine breathing in the scents of the English countryside with our Signature blend of Lemon Myrtle, Rose and Lavender or relaxing by a log fire with our Winter blend of Cinnamon, Sweet Orange and Clove.

We also have two amazing Bath & Body oils which will nourish and sooth your skin, as well as revive your spirits. Enjoy either the relaxing Lavender and Jasmine or the invigorating Grapefruit and Ylang Ylang.

As you may know, we are based in the beautiful Cotswolds. We are so lucky to live and work here and so we thought it might be nice to recommend a few of our favourite places to go round here:

  1. No. 131 Cheltenham – if you are after the trendiest and quirkiest Cotswolds retreat, then look no further than no.131 http://theluckyonion.com/ Described by Tatler as ‘one of the coolest places to eat in England’ and with interiors to die for, it’s a must for a visit.
  2. Daylesford Organic Farm – founded by the Bamford family, this beautiful farmshop and café has the most amazing organic produce, straight from field to table and gorgeous this to buy. Don’t miss out on the heavenly spa treatments.http://daylesford.com/
  3. Meggie’s Gift Shop – this cute little gift shop in Painswick http://www.shopmeggies.co.uk/ is well worth a visit. Meg, the owner, has sourced lots of lovely local things from around the Cotswolds, including our very own natural beauty range 100 Acres. Stop by the Falcon Inn http://www.falconpainswick.co.uk/ next door for a delicious lunch.

It’s that time of the month again, when we get to share with you all that’s caught our attention, made us smile or we just think you’d like to know about..

  1. The arrival of spring! It seems that Spring is finally on it’s way, YEH. The sun is shining, the crocuses and daffodils are out and it’s making us smile here at 100 Acres HQ. Take a trip to Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire for a beautiful spring day out, the butterfly house is amazing and kids love it.
  2. With the weather getting warmer, now’s a good time to get to moving. Whether you’re a fitness freak or take a more laid back approach to exercise, you can’t underestimate the importance of moving your body every day. Try a HIIT workout, a run in your local park or even some stretching last thing at night. Check out these sites to get some super stylish fitness get-ups and loads of great get fit/stay healthy tips: hipandhealthy, sweaty betty, sustain the glow
  3. We’re getting closer to when we can reveal our exciting new products that will be joining the 100 Acres natural beauty range. The office has been full of the gorgeous scents of essential oils and fragrances and we’ve been busy choosing just what will go into our products to make them smell divine.

We always love to hear from you. What has been your favourite monthly moment? Post a comment below or on facebook  and the best entry will receive a 100 Acres Body Wash.

We’d love to share with you our favourite things we’ve seen, done, or been inspired by each month here at 100 Acres HQ, so here comes for the first of our 100 Acres what we’re loving this month…

As you all know, we are inspired by everything that is natural and hails from the countryside, so this new wave of healthy eating is right up our street. We are loving (and enjoying in the office!) the amazing recipes in Anna Woodard’s ‘A new way to eat’ book. It’s full of delicious, really tasty, vegetarian recipes, and promotes using what’s in season right now.  Get more inspiration from the following super-healthy foodie bloggers: www.hemsleyandhemsley.com, www.deliciouslyella.com, www.madebymargie.com, www.nurturewithnature.com, www.honestlyhealthy.com.

If you fancy a movie night out, we wholly recommend going to see ‘Wild’ with Reese Witherspoon. Based on the novel of the same name by Cheryl Strayed, expect drama, amazing scenery and raw emotion..tissues at the ready!

We’ve also got some exciting news about two products joining the 100 Acres range very soon. We’ve been working hard developing an amazingly scented massage oil and our first ever candle..so watch this space for their on sale date!

Let us know what you have been loving this month by posting your comments on our blog or facebook post and our favourite will receive a 100 Acres Body Wash.

We were honoured here at 100 Acres to be asked to collaborate in the I-escape.com blogger event at The Chapel in Somerset. I-escape.com had invited some of the leading lifestyle and family bloggers to get together there for a fun and informative evening.

We put our gorgeous 100 Acre Handwash in the goody bags for all the bloggers, and have had some great feedback already! A zingy blend of purifying lemon myrtle and uplifting grapefruit essential oils, this wash leaves your hands super clean and fresh.

As with our entire range, all our products are 100% natural, free from any nasty parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, artificial colourings or fragrances.

100 Acres natural range of bath and body products made with essential oils and botanicals is excited to announce our new website which coincides with Cheltenham Literature Festival 3rd- 14th October 2014 . No. 131 in Cheltenham a restaurant and bar with eleven beautiful bedrooms  which is part of The Lucky Onion uses 100 Acres products in its bathrooms. No 131 is The Times and The Sunday Times Hub during the Festival, a place where artists, musicians, writers, journalists, entrepreneurs and the media meet. 100 Acres will be unveiling the full range of natural products at the Hub.

100 Acres were at The Big Feastival this summer .  Based in the beautiful English countryside under amazing skies with artisan food producers and music strumming, there isn’t really a nicer way to spend a day.  Our 100 Acres therapists introduced the luxurious bath and body skincare products to festival goers and the feedback was fantastic.

Our products are, we find, best experienced when massaged in by someone else’s hands, although if you’re good at massaging yourself then that can work too but at the festival which is quite public we found that people preferred our therapists to do it.  Then they really could close their eyes, unwind and imagine our 100 Acres of heaven.  Other great festivals in the area are Cornbury and Wilderness .  You can book our therapists for your event or festival too.  Click here to find out more
